Professional Profile:

The High-School-Integrated to Vocational Training Course in Environment aims at the understanding of the complexity of natural systems, acting in the evaluation and control of the factors that cause impact on the cycles of matter and energy, reducing the effects caused in nature (soil, water and air).

At the end of the course, the professional will be able to understand pollution prevention activities through environmental management of industrial production processes, environmental education, cleaner production and use of cleaner technologies, control and treatment of waste, effluents and atmospheric emissions that may cause any impact to the environment.

The Environment Technician should be aware of their role in society, acting with responsibility and professional ethics, having a proactive attitude towards environmental issues involving not only environmental matters, but also social and economic aspects.

Regarding the profile, graduates from such course should be able to:

  • Collaborate in the preparation of reports and environmental studies;
  • Assist in the elaboration, monitoring and execution of environmental management systems;
  • Act in the organization of programs of reduction, reuse and recycling, as well as programs of environmental education, conservation and preservation of natural resources;
  • Collect, store and interpret environmental information, data and documentation;
  • Identify environmental interventions, analyze their consequences and operationalize the execution of actions for preservation, conservation, optimization, minimization and remediation of their effects;
  • Know and apply norms of environmental sustainability, respecting the environment and understanding society as a human construction endowed with time, space and history;
  • Have an ethical attitude in work and social interaction; understand the processes of human socialization in the collective sphere and notice themselves as social agents that may intervene in reality;
  • Have initiative, creativity, autonomy, responsibility; know how to work as a team; exercise leadership and have entrepreneurial ability;
  • Position themselves critically and ethically before technological innovations, evaluating their impact on the development and construction of society.

 

Scope of activity:

The Environment Technician is a professional with fundamental acting in several activities of public and private institutions and can work autonomously within the limits of their technical responsibility in:

  • Water and sewage companies;
  • Health foundation;
  • Industries;
  • Hospitals or clinics and laboratories;
  • State Environmental Organizations;
  • Conservation units;
  • Support of activities related to environmental education in teaching institutions.
